Riders: The weather is finally letting us know that it is Spring and we are looking forward to a great biking season. We have done rides for almost every meeting throughout the winter, some were a bit chilly and lots were a bit wet; but I’m really proud of the number of riders who believe in the full year riding concept. I got pretty disappointed in getting so many snow storms even though they were beautiful. We now have a full season ride schedule planned ahead of us. This includes rides during or after the meeting as well as our first series of Benefit Runs. May 10th will be the “Over the Hill for Lunch Bunch” Poker Rally and we need to thank “Doc” for all his efforts in getting our first benefit run up and going. I’ve heard that other Veteran Groups and Motorcycle Groups have links to our site to spread the word. I’d also like to thank our two Riders Auxiliary members, the Post 79 Auxiliary and even a couple of our non riders of the Post who have volunteered! We have some surprises coming in the way of a new website soon to be announced being worked on by Sheryl Sheaffer, you will be delighted with the product. She is setting it up so that we can do some of the maintenance and updates on our own and we will have a calendar dedicated to “bikin”. I also want to let you know that the Post 79 Auxiliary and very possibly Post 79 will be joining us in the support of the Wounded Warrior Project. We have some contacts now at the VA Hospital and Madigan where we can volunteer and spread the word on the help we can provide to our Brothers and Sisters who have been injured in our current conflicts. I tried to get the Auxiliary to split the cost of the two new outside flags for the Post, but they went ahead and approved buying both! We are almost ready to start on the handicapped ramp at the Post that we said we would help with. Please note the improvements to the building with the new gutters, new hot water, fixed stove, new handrails and we got notification of another grant to help us prep and paint the building. It will be great to have BBQs and other events there this summer. We even have two of our members who have started new Riders Groups on their own in there areas. I’m proud to have had them as members and I feel like a Grampa with new kids. Congratulation to them and we will have a close relationship with them in the future. We also have some new members that we should welcome and encourage to come to meetings and rides and to participate in our benefits. It’s been a very productive year for our first year, with a few bumps along the way and I’m looking forward to yet another year of fun, education, Veteran support and riding. Yours in Service, Rich “Geezer” Collingwood, Director Snoqualmie Riders
